Ok, so my apologies for being MIA lately. But we've been super busy these past two weeks! Since my last post, my parents and Jess have arrived out here in BBC (beautiful BC as our friend Ali would call it!). They drove the old clunker (a
'96 GMC Safari) from Sarnia, across the barren land, through the sketchy
mountains (ask my mom about that sometime) and arrived here a week ago today. On their trip out, they got to stop and see
Corner Gas (but did you know there's no actual place in SK called Dog River? I thought there was!). Apparently Dog River is in the little town of
Rouleau, SK. They also drove up norther through AB to see my mom's brother and his family in Edmonton. Jess got to see
West Edmonton Mall, which she enjoyed! Apparently too when they were there, they saw a guy skating out on the rink (Meg - remember that?) and he had to be at least 85 and was wearing old skates from his 20's my dad thinks. So cool! After a quick stop in Jasper, they made their way to good 'ol Kelowna, BC... the van sounding like a grumbling old man (similar to my father after 6 days on the road) and all 3 of them ready to get outside and walk, anywhere and everywhere.
So the last week we've had the family here at our place. Unfortunately, I've had to work (no vacation days as a newbie!) but Aaron took 2 days off to golf with my dad and we've visited at lunch/after work, etc. On Tuesday, they took a drive down to Penticton and did the
Naramata Bench winery tour and came back with almost a case (ok, so 2 bottles were for us, but still...). :) Good thing they're driving back east next week b/c they couldn't take it home on a plane with them. Jess is flying back to Sarnia tomorrow and my parents and I are heading to Vancouver for a few days. I am presenting (unexpectedly) at the
CAHSPR conference on Monday-Tuesday and the will be back to K-town on Wednesday. I think my parents will probably start the long trek back home on Thursday, leaving us to be empty-nesters once again. :(
Anyone want to come and visit? (or is that a rather silly question)...
Well, that's it from here for now. Talk to you all soon!
